Air Serbia Baggage Policy

On every flight, regardless of whether it’s for a personal or professional trip, you carry your luggage. Choose one of the baggage alternatives, then take off and fly! 

The Air Serbia Baggage Policy will give you information on the permitted amount of baggage allowance, fees, and more.

Air Serbia Baggage Guidelines for Carry-on

Whether it is a backpack, a little bag, or a suitcase, you are not charged to check in a piece of hand luggage. After boarding, you should store your hand luggage in the space above your seat, which will be designated with a blue tag. It mustn’t weigh or measure more than what is permitted as per Air Serbia baggage policy.

Note: Under 2-year-olds children are not permitted to check in hand luggage; the only exceptions are foldable strollers for kids or baby carriages like a bassinet or carrycot, as well as baby food for the journey.

Additional hand luggage

You are also permitted to carry in one more small piece of luggage or an item that can be stowed underneath the seat in front of you, but it must not weigh more than the allowed amount. Air Serbia baggage limit for carry-on bag would be –

Any personal item would be in the form of – 

  • a handbag or laptop case,
  • a suitcase or file case
  • a compact bag,
  • a bag of duty-free items,
  • a pocket camera,
  • goggles,
  • a box containing personal possessions.

Additionally, you may bring additional things:

  • a coat or jacket,
  • a portable wheelchair, additional orthopedic devices,
  • a portable stroller or baby carrier, meals and drinks for the infant during the travel,
  • a walking cane.

Items like folders, iPods, mobile phones, a second bag containing duty-free goods, newspapers, novels, and other reading material won’t be considered distinct belongings and must be carried in a purse or supplementary piece of baggage.

Kindly show the airport workers at the visiting counter or boarding gate your folding strollers or wheelchairs. Both chair models are carried in the airplane hold at no additional cost.

Air Serbia Checked Baggage allowance

As per Air Serbia baggage policy, the checked baggage allowance varies with the travel route and the class of service. 

Between Europe and the Middle East as well as inside Europe – The Air Serbia checked baggage allowance for this route include – 

The Air Serbia baggage weight for the Standard and Comfort fare in Economy must not exceed 23 kg. For Business class, the checked bag must be within 32 kg.

Air Serbia Special Baggage 

If you want to bring a wheelchair or another mobility device, they are accepted as checked baggage without any extra fees.

A maximum of two mobility aid items can be brought on board. The only thing that matters is that you follow the aviation and hazardous material transport laws’ space restrictions.

Your wheelchair or other mobility equipment will only be transported with permission. You must let us know ahead of time that you want to carry mobility assistance, preferably as soon as you book your trip but no later than 48 hours before takeoff. If the aid is an electric wheelchair, you must specify the wheelchair’s kind, size, weight, and battery type.

We urge you to check in two hours before takeoff so that we can set up all the necessary paperwork for your flight confirmation.

The following forms of assistance are accepted by us:

  • Wheelchair with a dry battery and additional mobility tools (WCBD),
  • Manual wheelchair with additional assistive devices (WCMP).
  • Wheelchairs and other mobility devices powered by wet cell batteries are not permitted on our flights (WCBW).

Conditions for Acceptance of Battery-Powered Mobility Aids

Wheelchairs and other mobility devices with batteries will only be approved for transport in the following circumstances to prevent damage to the aircraft and ensure a safe flight:

  • In the absence of batteries,
  • If the battery poles are segregated to prevent short circuits,
  • If the wheelchairs or other devices are securely coupled with the batteries,
  • if the batteries are the kind of batteries that can withstand pressure or vibration without leaking.

Air Serbia Lost Baggage

When exiting the airport’s arrivals area, kindly notify the airline of any delays to your baggage. To report any irregularities with your luggage, Air Serbia lost baggage team will require the following paperwork:

  • flight ticket,
  • receipt for a baggage tag
  • board ticket.

If your luggage is delayed or damaged, please submit your Passenger Irregularity Report (PIR) or Damaged Pilferage Report (DPR) to support any subsequent claims or communication. 

Report a Delayed Bag

If you arrive and realize that your luggage is missing, please head straight to the airport’s baggage claim/lost and find the office to file a traveler irregularity report (PIR). Air Serbia delayed baggage team also requires – 

  • A copy of the report will be sent to you; you must keep it on hand until the luggage has been returned and any potential claims have been resolved.
  • The airport where you made the report is in charge of finding your luggage and will have the most recent information on their investigation.

Report lost baggage

Within 21 days, you can file a compensation claim if your luggage is still missing.

Please provide all necessary evidence, including your Passenger Irregularity Report (PIR) from the airport’s lost and found/baggage claim office, for us to complete this claim.

Complete the claim form for compensation

The deadline for filing claims in cases of delayed baggage is the 21st day after the date on which the luggage was supposed to be delivered to you.

Report any broken or lost items

To create a “Damage Property Report,” please notify the Air Serbia baggage lost team as soon as possible after landing if you discover any damage to or missing goods from your checked baggage (DPR ).

The proper reference number will then be on a copy of this Report that you will get. The specified report must be kept so that you can monitor your claim and, based on it, submit a damage claim.

As soon as you arrive at your destination, you must contact the Air Serbia lost baggage team to file a “Damage Property Report” if you discover that your checked baggage is damaged or that certain goods are missing only after you have left the airport (DPR).

Furthermore, you must send Air Serbia a Damage Claim

Please be aware that you must first create a “Damage Property Report” (DPR) before sending Air Serbia your damage claim.

Once they arrive or within seven days, the traveler must report any damage (21 days, if baggage delivery to the passenger was delayed).

Notes on Limited liability

The following examples of damage to luggage that is not specifically excluded from this exclusion are included, as per Air Serbia baggage guidelines. 

  • Small dents, cuts, scrapes, scuffs, dirt, and stains,
  • Damage to products that were improperly packed, especially fragile items,
  • Damage from excess packed luggage
  • Disappearance of pull straps, security straps, zipper tabs, external locks,
  • Items seized by airport or security personnel.

Following the Limited Release procedure, Air Serbia damaged baggage team shall not be responsible for any of the following:

  • Fragile, pricey, or perishable items,
  • The packing of luggage in tattered or inappropriate containers
  • The disappearance of jewelry, other valuables, and cash from checked luggage
  • Damage to hand luggage, unless carelessness on the part of Air Serbia resulted in such damage.

As mentioned in our Conditions of Carriage and Terms and Conditions of Carriage US/CA, Air Serbia shall have limited liability for damaged baggage in line with the Montreal Convention.

Air Serbia Baggage Fees

Air Serbia Baggage allowance would be included in the fare. At times, passengers carry extra pieces of articles, and it may be subject to a fee.

How to add the baggage?

Passengers can add baggage at the time of booking, while completing the Air Serbia check in, or at the airport. 

At the time of check-in –  Once you have booked a flight, navigate to the Air Serbia Manage booking section on the airline’s website. And, 

  • Sign in with your last name and the six-digit booking reference to view your reservation dashboard.
  • To book bags onto an existing itinerary, select the flights.
  • To add more baggage, click “Select your bags”. You can also check how much is currently included on your flight.
  • Click the ‘+’ button to add the bags. Air Serbia baggage fees will be displayed.
  • Once you are satisfied with the price of your new baggage, click “Make Payment.”

At the airport – Passengers can simply head to the check-in counter and add the baggage. Please note the air Serbia baggage fee would be on a higher side when payable at the airport.

How many bags do you get with Air Serbia?

For all markets other than Abu Dhabi and the US, Air Serbia’s baggage check-in/hold luggage closure time is 45 minutes before takeoff (60 minutes for flights to New York). Travelers are permitted one bag in Economy Class with a gross weight of 23 kg/50 lb.
